The Akashic Tarot by Sharon Anne Klingler and Sandra Anne Taylor

Hello, soul friends!

I started off a section on my website where I review card decks that I have used over the years, and here we are almost 100 decks reviewed. I have owned over 200 various decks (currently own about 90 - so still have a ton to review), and thought I would write some of my notes, experiences, personal opinions, and information on the decks for anyone out there looking for suggestions. Diving into the world of decks can be a bit scary, fun, and also at times overwhelming with the sheer amount of choices.

There are various differences to the types of card decks people use, but the most common ones are Tarot, Oracle, and Lenormand. Over the years, I have come to collect various and eclectic decks ranging in artistic style and type. I always purchase what grabs my attention, and have learned that my aesthetic is not for everyone. So, as always, purchase what you feel guided to use for yourself.

I am just expressing my opinions and my own personal experiences with these decks and I hope that you can appreciate the candor. As always, use your own intuition and find tools that suit your tastes.

The Akashic Tarot deck is published by Hay House. I purchased my deck from them during one of their sales - out of curiosity, but I have also seen it available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and other bookstores.

My Personal Review

This is a 62 card deck that includes various components from spiritual teachings, and also interesting characters/ Ascended Masters to guide you, has been an interesting addition to my collection.

The cards are larger than a traditional Tarot deck, but similar to most Hay House decks. Product dimensions are 0.8 x 4.8 x 5.2 inches. It includes a guidebook and box.

The reason I haven't enjoyed this deck so much is the lack of versatility. I also didn't find it easy to use. While I love the Energy Oracle by Sandra Anne Taylor and you can see my review on that HERE, this deck was just not something that I felt compelled to dive into more than a few times. It has unfortunately sat in my collection for too long, and I think it is time to finally move on from owning it. Some tools don't always call out to each person who uses them, and unfortunately this is one of those that I am ready to just let move on to it's next home.

It is a very gentle, positive, and an easy deck to use. From beginner to the experienced card reader, I think there is something unexpectedly beautiful about this deck. The artwork appears to be CGI, which may also be why I don't readily connect to the images. Even the darker or bolder cards have a high point to focus your energy on. And I find the guidebook to be helpful in understanding the characters, images, and also the story behind the meanings.

I did purchase this deck when it came out, but have only used it a handful of times and have found that I had a difficult time connecting to the stories and images. It has a similar structure to Tarot, so this may be a good transitional deck for those looking to understand the Tarot, but I much prefer the Psychic Tarot by John Holland which you can view the review I have on that deck HERE. I like to keep decks and try to work with them over and over again to see if I can build a connection, and this is just one of those that wasn't for me.

The guidebook provides upright and reversed meanings, which is very atypical for Oracle decks. This helps to learn the meanings and also do Tarot based types of spreads, as well. As you can see there are various suits included and a Major Arcana style section. Forces (Swords), Keys (Wands), Scrolls (Pentacles), and Roses (Cups). Perhaps that isn't correct but that is how I associated the suits in this deck. There is the inclusion of Court cards, as well.

The deck has a beautiful and detailed guidebook that is 221 pages long and has a lot of information on the cards, spreads, and also information on the deck. I was not curious enough to study it further.

The vibrant colors are the rich tones that add such a fascinating facet to the artwork. It is rich without being dark. The images themselves all help you tap into your intuition and allow you to understand the deck more thoroughly. As you continue to use this deck. you will keep seeing symbols or different interpretations. There is also a lot of subtle images in each of the cards, which remind me a lot of the Energy Oracle - but the card stock is the newer style of Hay House with being a semi-matte finish and allowing a thicker shuffle. The cards are noticeably bigger than a deck of standard playing cards and the card stock itself is solid; I recommend anyone with a new deck spend some time shuffling it and getting to know its feel, in addition to just "getting to know" any new deck. I've found that I can shuffle them quite easily, even with my small hands.

The card stock is thick. With the matte finish, it photographs very well and also allows you get a nice bend without cracking the card stock. It is not gilded or finished with anything on the edges and some of my cards started peeling. This deck is a stiffer card stock from typical Hay House products, but it needs some time shuffling in order to get a smooth shuffle. It is a bit scratchy, so I gently shuffle these cards. I am afraid to peel or scratch these cards up, or to cause flaking with constant shuffling.

The guidebook is helpful, clear, and also the messages even on some of the more difficult cards, allow you to understand a new point of view on upcoming challenges. After all, to be forewarned is to be forearmed! I think it is a unique style that blends Oracle and Tarot simultaneously, so either love it or hate it - I can't say that it isn't a unique deck that brings two worlds together.

All in all, I do suggest to any budding card reader. Even if you are experienced in Tarot and would like to explore Oracle decks without diving too far away from the pond of comfort, I would say that this deck is a good one to try out and check out.

Overall, I think it is the right deck for those who enjoy blending and perhaps even studying their decks more. As I was not really interested in it, it wasn't a deck I am tempted to reach for repeatedly, but I do think the quality is beautiful and with dedication, it could be an amazing divination tool.

My overall opinion is that this deck is a 3 star choice.

Artwork - 4 stars

Card stock - 2 stars

Ease - 2 stars

Guidebook - 4 stars
